Found a few tickets at Orbitz.com from Cincinnati to Madrid or Barcelona. The average is about $1100 per person.

Many of the posters recommend going to the north of Spain during the summer. A few posts echo this sentiment:

<< We really want to immerse ourselves in the food, communty, and people>>
hat area of Spain a lot of the food is fish and chips and the culture is 'brit on holiday'.
I wouldn't choose it for a honeymoon
Other posters suggest going to the north to avoid the heat of the southern beaches during July/August.

You may want to rethink your trip. The Costa del Sol (www.visitcostadelsol.com/) is very nice, but overcrowded in July-August and hot! You might want to head north, as most Spaniards do, besides, the cuisine in the north is much better and the beaches not half-bad.
This place has some beautiful beaches and is not to far from Madrid.
- Can we get there by rail?
- once there can we get around with out a car?
- hotel or hostel
It is about a 7+hour train ride from Madrid
I found a beach that is a little outside of Gijon.
